Head to Seattle and down the West Coast on an AMAZING road trip

"It took us a couple of months to plan, but we made it happen! Our good friends Angie & Jason and us took an amazing road trip together. We first headed straight up to Seattle, Washington to visit our friends Catherine & Eric Bingham and to see what Seattle had to offer! We were able to see so much in Seattle like: The Space Needle, The Pacific science Center, The Seattle Aquarium, went on a cruise around the coast of Seattle, Underground Tour of Seattle, The EMP Museum, visited the Woodland Zoo and of course ate great food. After a few days in Seattle we headed to Oregon to see the beautiful Pacific Ocean Coast. We took the U.S. Route 101 highway down the coast and saw God's greatest creations. The beautiful peaceful ocean coast, the outstanding Redwoods and the gorgeous mountains and valleys we took the highway down to one of our favorite places; San Francisco, California. There we visited Beau's grandparents, took a tour on Alcatraz, visited China Town, rode the trolley, and drove down the whiniest road; Lombard Street. Then we headed back to Utah staying a night in Reno, Nevada where we played some bingo and went to an amazing buffet. " from my Shutterfly album.Me, Cat, Angie (blurry... but only good one Beau got)

So my friends... I would like to challenge you to do this same thing or some version of it! I love it! Took me forever to do it this way... but so will a 4 page scrapbook page.
I first got a notebook and went to my Google calendar and flipped through the last year to get my brain remembering what a fabulous year we really did have. Then flipped through my physical calendar notebook, then go through your phone photos and remember things that happened that way. Next go to your Facebook, and if you updated to a timeline you can click on your activity log and it will show you everything you ever commented, posted and liked in each month! so cool btw... anyways...
I challenge you to take 20 minutes to do this even if its to scribble down the happenings on notebook paper, it will be cherished in the years to come. Because all of this blogging, scrapbook-ing, journal-ing and even Facebook-ing is to document our life! I think even if I did stay on top of my blogging I would love to see the "year at a glance version".

What a great year Beau and I were blessed with. Even with the crummy jobless months, no more second car, less money, being sick, and so much more that we ALL have to deal with. It's this time of year we get the chance to look back and remember, then change if we need to. I'm so looking forward to what 2012 brings!

Been listening to Christmas music and every time Kenny G's Christmas songs come on I think of you, our shared bedroom, making candy/bread with Grandma Withers, and going to the dollar store and wrapping presents in fast forward motion so none of our siblings would see what they already knew we got them! Merry Christmas! ♥ you!

I can't believe how much a familiar song/melody floods the brain of flash back memories. I didn't do a whole lot yesterday, but downloaded a bunch of Christmas songs onto my iPod. I looked up the best Christmas Albums of all time and Kenny G's Miracles: Holiday Album was on the list. I immediately knew I had to get it because growing up my sister Shantell and Ryan played the saxophone and Shanny had this CD. I think it was the only Christmas CD we really had, and so it was the only thing we played during the holidays.

As I've played my IPod on my dock today, the songs would shuffle through my playlist and every time one of the Kenny G songs came on I was humming along and the memories were so overwhelming I even teared up a few times. (I know, I'm a big baby!)

I don't think there is a better holiday than Christmas. Not only is it so special because it was the birth of Christ. But, in that all the hustle and bustle of Christmas time we have family parties, family traditions and sometimes seems to be too much in one month. It's what I remember most as a kid. It's my favorite times in my life, because we are together as family and friends.

Growing up living in my Dad's parents house, I have even more cherished memories of my grandparents, especially my Grandma Withers. I remember taking evening trips to every single store in town to gather all the ingredients to make fruit cake. I remember staying up late on school nights waiting for the corn syrup and sugar mixture to reach the oh so very important soft stage to make fudge. I remember having to hurry and butter the spoons so we can get the divinity onto the wax paper before it set up. I remember sitting at the counter tap tap tapping away as the melted chocolate was dripping off the pretzels. I remember the smells... I can't even pin point the exact smells but when I think of making candy with her, I have memory of that sweet smell.

I am so extremely grateful to have had the chance to have these extra memories with my Grandma. I know she is how and why I have the talent in baking and cooking.

I'm so thankful for this time of year that we can remember, reflect, and treasure our family, our family traditions, and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Memorial Day this year, we took the drive up to Ogden and visited Beau's Grandparents and stopped by American Fork Cemetery to see my Grandparents.

Saturday Evening at Vernon Reservoir

Back in May, Brandon took a camping trip for his birthday down to Vernon Reservoir with some of his friends and my other brother Jamason. We took the drive down to check out the camping party... to my surprise the reservoir was a hidden gem. It was so quite and peaceful out there. I loved it.

A flash back ... homeboys

So to begin, Beau was getting on the freeway in Springville with his Dad in the police interceptor and was talking on the phone (like he ALWAYS does when he drives.... grrr... So annoying) but he was noticing some crazy person behind him and totally not paying attention to what all the construction work was going on with the on ramp and totally swiped the side of this car and bashed the passenger side mirror and almost gave his Dad and himself a heartache. The mirror was hanging on by the electrical cord. It was real ghetto.

So we hopped on eBay and bought us a new mirror from some taxi cab company and so Greg was in town for a couple days and so the boys got to work on fixing the dangling mirror.

Just like the good old times... So I had to grab some snapshots...

Now this is hilarious.... We have this playstation Rapstar game that you rap the words to a bunch of different rap songs. Greg is real good... but they are totally awesome together...

Christmas Day 2010

Can anyone else believe that it’s January 8^th 2011? Holy Cow not me! I was thinking Christmas was never coming, I felt I was getting ready for Christmas for months and now the holidays are all over and it’s a new year, day 8. Time is really flying by. We had such an awesome Christmas. It was full of parties, traditions, too many treats, family fun, snow, real good food, laughs, birthdays, and lots of memories.

We spent Christmas Eve at the Graves. Started out with making soda’s in Michael's new soda maker, very delicious and refreshing. Next we had our traditional Fondue dinner with steak, shrimp and steak along with some vegetables. And later some chocolate fondue that was too good.

Every year Carol has a tradition that we get a Christmas story book along with an ornament/figurine and read it together as a family. This years story was "The Christmas Sweater" by Glenn Beck.

We played games, new technology games. PlayStation Move “Let’s start the party” You’ll laugh your butt off. If you don’t have a clue what I’m talking about, then come over to our house Beau got the games for his birthday, and find out how fun it really is.

Finally, after Jordyn asked us about 100 times, we opened presents!

We got amazing paintings by Thomas Kinkade from John & Carol. Thomas Kinkade is from the same town that John grew up Placerville, California. Thomas is known for painting light into his pictures. Each of our pictures are different, but just Beautiful!

And BOY we got spoiled! After the party, Beau and I headed home and got some sleep before Santa came to our house.

Christmas morning Beau and I exchanged our gifts. We got ready and headed to my parents’ house for more fun and Christmas omelets, a Withers tradition. When we all were fed we started opening gifts.

This year all my siblings went in one getting my Dad & Mom a new computer. It was the biggest surprise I think we’ve tried to pull off to my parents. They didn’t have a clue we were doing it. My dad likes to make jokes about his gifts. When we were little he’d put a cassette tape or CD in our stocking and tease us about how come Santa gave you a tape/cd when you don’t even have a player? Then we be all confused and then he’d have to end up telling us to go look somewhere else in the house for boom box. So, we tried to funny to him. We gave him and my Mom a monitor cord and printer cord. They had to open it and we teased them why do you need a monitor cord? You already have a computer monitor. They thought we were so funny, not really. Then we brought out the computer and monitor and they opened them up. My parents have never had a brand new computer, always fixing old ones. So this was a real treat for them. I was so excited to get them a NEW working computer!

I made my Mom her very own temple picture. I took this temple class during the summer and have it hanging up in my house. Shanny’s ward did the same class and I joined along with Shanny’s ward and made my Mom her very own. She loved it, she got teary eyed, which made me. Genetics, we are a bunch of crybabies.

Next up we went to visit my Grandma Burch and all our extended family. As always, lots and lots of delicious food there. After the festivities at Grandma’s house, Beau and I headed home and John, Carol & LaDawn came over some dinner and games.

It was an awesome Christmas. One for the books.

Beau turns 25

Beau turned 25 years old on December 19^th. He said he feels old now. We celebrated the Sunday by having a family dinner with his family. He got BYU spoiled for his Birthday.

This is the quilt Beau's Mom made him. She sacrificed a lot making it. This was the project she was working on that she sliced some of her finger off with her rotary cutter. With a few stitches later and time to heal she is just fine and finished just in time to give it to him.

Carol sneaked in some of the jean pockets Utah Ute handkerchiefs to just tease Beau. Here he is showing you all what he thinks of Utah Utes.

I gave him the last season of his favorite TV show, 24. I also got him new bear ornaments for his collection, the onne bear snowboarding I got him tickets to go snowboarding with Greg who came into town for Christmas. Beau use to work at Sundance years ago and hasn’t been boarding for 4 years. So Beau, Greg, and Greg’s brother Kennedy went to The Canyons in Park City, Utah for the day.

Here is a picture of all Beau's Ornament Bears. I've given them all to him in the last 4 years for his Birthday.

Nebo Loop

Last Monday we grab a Subway sandwich and head up the Nebo Loop for a scenic drive. It was so BEAUTIFUL!!! I love the fall colors and fall weather!

Devil's Kitchen was so cool. I didn't even know that it was so close. It was Utah County's little Bryce Canyon. It was really awesome to see the beautiful red rock mountains so close to home.

Beau finished his "tickets" (goals) he set back last October during his Woodbadge training and was awarded his beads in August.

It was really neat to meet some of Beau's Bear Patrol and hear about stories from Woodbadge and see him get awarded.

Life has been so crazy in the last couple weeks.

Beau got a new promotion/position at work and is now working 3 week nights until midnight or whatever time he gets home. Doesn't help that they are always doing something on the freeway and so with lane closures and ramp closures it always seem to take him even longer to get home. But he loves being a Coach and really enjoys teaching students everything he has learned over the pass years working at Prosper.

I also had a change in my employment. It was a very sad day last Friday (Sept. 10th) when it was my last day working at E.S.P. Excavation. I've loved working there and absolutely LOVE the Phelon's, who have been such a big part in my life since I was 10years old! I've started working at Pinnacle Clear in Orem. It's a great commute rather than traveling to American Fork everyday. :) I am working as a Regional Office Coordinator and it's been real great!

I'm so sad to see the summer coming to end. I can't believe it's alreadymiddle of September. The trees on the mountains by my house are already starting to change! I love the fall season. But HATE winter SNOW!!!So it makes me real sad seeing the summer come to end so soon.

Beau's been real busy with his Wilderness Innovation business. Even have a class this fall to teach through the Community School in Springville & Spanish Fork. Watch some of his You Tube videos, it's great information and funny, just cause It's my Beau on there teaching all these things I never knew he knew. :)

{Vacation } I miss you...

Newport Beach

We met up with my brother Brandon and cousin Kevin at the beach Thursday afternoon.

They decided to go swimming...

{ Friday } Disneyland

This is one of Beau's favorite rides. It was like the 3rd ride we rode that morning.

It was a FULL boat (meaning LOTS of WEIGHT) the worker of the ride told us sarcastically "You're going to have fun"

We were DRENCHED!! Completely. Shoes and EVERYTHING!! Before we even went down the big mountain. Huge waves would come into the boat after the littlest turns. It was fun but BOY it was miserable after wards. Wet shoes & socks... NO GOOD! So much for curling my hair that day.

But with a couple blisters here and there... it was well worth it!!

This is my favorite ride... Indiana Jones... I tried to get a picture... but the ride started before I could and this is all i could get :)

We hit the train for a ride around Disneyland Park and guess who was next to us in line... Kobe Bryant from the Lakers... with his daughter. We rode on the same train. Aren't we COOL!

All the neighbor kids were playing night games! It made me smile and giggle!

I remember playing night games all the time during the summer months! It makes me feel so good that I live in a great neighborhood that all the kids play together and have a great place to play! And especially that they are OUTSIDE playing and not all Xbox & Playstation junkies :)

I LOVE the 4th of July!

Everything about the holiday! The pride that is shown on this special day makes my heart glow with great love for my country and for the people who have made it such an amazing place to call home! I love going to the big parade in downtown Provo and all the festivities that celebrate our Independence as a whole Nation!!

I'm definitely PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN!!

I love to decorate for the 4th! Sadly, still haven't yet, but have all intentions of working on it tonight. But I have been checking out some blogs for ideas and thought you'd like to see some of these dang cute ideas also to show a little American Pride in your home!!

Well Beau did an awesome job again! He started out with making breakfast at 6 AM, headed up the stairs to deliever it to me in bed.

Then he tripped...

Made some REAL loud noises and some colorful vocabulary...

I woke up in a hurry FREAKED out!!!

Then couldn't STOP LAUGHING!!!!!

He'd tripped on some stuff at the top of the stairs and was hopping around with a stubbed toe and all upset that he messed up his breakfast!

So sad! He is such a sweetie, always trying his best to go the extra mile! Sometimes he can't get a break :(
He made it up to me with making me some more French Toast (my Favorite) {I went down stairs and ate it at the table this time}

He surprised me with these awesome flowers! I love the bright blue/purple ones! So pretty!!

We went on a date to see "To Kill A Mockingbird" at the Hale Center Theater
It was sooo good! We had a real great time! I lost my flip flop off the side of the seating bench right when the lights shut off to begin the show and tons of actors/actress started coming out! I was SURE they'd trip on it and I'd ruin everything... about 15 mins. later I was finally able to pick it up with my toes!
It was a GREAT Anniversary!!

Holy Cow! It's been 4 years since we became Man and Wife! I can't believe how fast time has flown by us! So Crazy! But it has been the most amazing time of our lives together! We wouldn't change anything and we LOVE each other more and more as the years go flying by us!!

to join the United States Air Force

We hope the best for Greg in his new life and will miss him terribly!! He went to Texas for 9 week boot camp and then will head to his "A" school (where he will learn his trade) which he didn't have a set "trade" yet. Good Luck Greg!

Big News!

We are homeowners!!

It was the most annoying, stressful, long, exhilarating process.
But none the less, We have our very first home! It's such a cute and cozy house! We couldn't be more excited! It's a townhouse in Payson, UT: 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, 2 car garage and about 1300 sq ft.

AND... the best thing about this house is that it will be 2 blocks from the New LDS Payson Temple!
How cool is that?!?!

So... one random night Beau and I were in Provo and I wanted to stroll through the Dollar Tree store in East Bay shopping center and of course Beau's takes a stroll through Sportman's Warehouse. Not like 2 minutes later Beau comes walking into the Dollar Store and wants to show me something. I thinkin'....
"Like I care, and NO... you can't have it" (thinking it's a Gun or a knife).

He follows me around for a couple of aisles and is pretty much dancing around wanting me to leave me cart somewhere and go see what he wants to show me and then come back and get my cart and checkout.

So I hurry up and we head over to the store and we just walk into the front of the store and just to the left of the register's is some home decor and here was this little guy:

I was laughing SOOOO hard.

I'll explain...

1st Beau collects these bears. Has a whole Christmas Nativity set of them. And lots more.

2nd the saying "I'm Not Fat, I'm Fluffy" comes from a hilarious comedian who Beau just Loves and went and saw just last summer and owns a giant t-shirt that says "I'm not fat, I'm fluffy."

Cork Board Picture Frame

So cute and SO simple I wish I would have thought of it earlier!!
I made some of these for Christmas gifts and wanted to show you how easy it was to make!

Just get a frame
A pack of Cork tiles (found at office supplies store or even Walmart)

Take the glass out of the frame.
Lay the glass on to the cork and trace the size of the glass.
Cut cork to the size of the glass.
Replace the glass with your newly sized cork and put the back of the frame on.
TA DA! You are done!

I just love this because you can change out the pictures so easily. Something fun and new instead of glass frames all the time.

I got the great idea from Vale Design and just remade it to my own preference. I also got this simple tutorial from Skip to My Lou on how to make a notebook out of them!

So cool! I love blogs, I love blog hopping and finding great and wonderful things to help ease life!
Also... my fonts and doodles on my lists are from Fonts for Peas website with TONS of FREE way cute fonts!!

1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants..
4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
5. Make time to pray.
6. Play more games
7. Read more books than you did in 2009 .
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day
9. Sleep for 7 hours..
10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Personality:
11. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
12. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

New Years Weekend

Carol is the Birthday Girl on New Year's Eve... there is always a party on her birthday!
We spent the evening at the their house. We had a fondue party for dinner and cooked up some shrimp and chicken (LaDawn has those pictures) had yummy salads and ice cream cake for Carol's birthday!

This is pretty much how Beau spent the entire evening. Sitting in his rocking chair working on his new website that he "launched" that night. {Launched meaning open for business! Check it out here... http://wildernessinnovation.com }

We watched a great movie and played a game... again LaDawn has more of those pictures :)

Happy New Year Kiss

New Years is kinda of an anniversary for Beau and I.
We first met on New Years Eve of 2003 at a little party through friends
from that night on we have been best friends!
Wow! that was 6 years ago!!

The next day we celebrate Jordyn's 10th Birthday at Pirate Island! It was a fun place to eat and play some arcade games. I brought Adysen along for all the fun.

I had to get her this cute wand so that she wouldn't be scare of the pirates. I told her she was a princess and to use her wand to get rid of the scary pirates and skeletons. Other than a little scared of the decor she had sooo much fun!

I can't believe Jordyn is 10 years old! She has grown up so fast and is such a cute, caring, awesome young lady!

Later that day we headed out on a double date with Michael and Amy. We drove around for a long while and ended up in Syracuse at Sparetime Family Fun Center A friend of Michael's owns the place and Beau and I have wanted to check it out! Of course my camera was in the car when we were there but we did some mini golf where it was all glow in dark and under the sea theme. Way cool! Then we hit the bowling alley and some great fun at the Lazer tag. We always enjoy spending time with Michael and Amy cause we don't always see them as much as the boys would like :)
Then the boys wanted to get some wings so Beau Google some places on his phone and we ended up at a little wing restaurant in Salt Lake, The Wing Coop, they are know for 3 years of winning the National Buffalo Wing Festival in NY. So we knew it had to be good. Me and Amy just got a kids meal and enjoyed watching the boys taste test all there sauces.

Hope your enjoying your new year. It's hard to get use to writing 2010 at work. I remember being in school and thinking that it was so crazy to be writing 2000 ... ten years later... and I'm thinking its crazy to be writing 2010. Where does the time go!?!?

Farewell 2009

The end of the year is kind of a bitter-sweet feeling! It's always a great feeling to think that we have a fresh New Year to start new things in our lives and to have the feeling of a new beginning. But also is hard to think of ... What did I accomplish this past year? ... nothing... is sometimes how I feel when I look at my piles and piles of un-finish scrapbooks and craft projects. And walking into my cramped to the max apartment thinking... Will I ever have room for it all?! Will I ever finish what I start? What will this new year bring to me?

For starters I have to reflect on the past. It's always a good thing but sometimes an eye opener. I feel that the first part of my last year was awesome. Beau & I had a goal to go through the temple and We DID! I will always remember that day with my family and friends! It was so awesome to complete a goal that we set out to strive. After that came the busy summer months of camping trips for Beau and busy times at work. Then it was Fall and now the year is ending! Kind of a blur. I think timing is slowly going faster as the days go by. It just doesn't seem like there is never enough time and energy to do things we want and need to do in a day.

I'm so very grateful for all the things I have; a home, a bed, running hot water, food in my belly [more than I should sometimes :) ], a sweet loving husband, an incredible family and awesome uplifting friends, cars that get me from A to B, a healthy enough body to let me... be me, talents to help me grow into the best I can be, the knowledge of many great things, the hope and prayer I have in my heart that I can always be a strong person and grow everyday and make my life count. Everyday is different, some extremely hard, some just OK, some that I never want to repeat and some so amazing that I can't believe it happened. I'm grateful for my 365 days last year and looking forward to my 365 new days in 2010.

Really?!? I just can't believe that it's already December 1st!

This weekend we are heading to a cabin up in the Unitas Mountains with Beau's family for a Christmas get away! I can't wait! It will be lots of fun, just lounging around and playing game and cooking and eating!

I put up our tree on Sunday. But I had to trade with my sister because we live in a tiny apartment and have a HUGE fish tank that takes up half of the front room I used her smaller tree because my 7ft wouldn't fit anywhere! Turn out pretty cute. I love Christmas! I love decorating for it!

Ever since I saw this wreath over at Nannygoat blog I just HAD to make it!!

Mine of course had to be BLUE so Beau would like it and not dis on it cause it might have had red in it :)

Everything came from Dollar Tree, one of my favorite stores! The wreath is just made out of a dumb wire hanger re-shaped into a circle and the plastic ornaments are just strung on the hanger. Just twist up hanger and TA - DA!! So stinkin' cute!

I used 4 silver packages of 5 bulbs and 4 blue, 2 small silver and blue bulbs and 2 packs of 3 fancier bulbs. All in all about $12!

I love it!

Even though it won't match any of my other Christmas decor :)

{ but Beau hates it }

Beau's Woodbadge Experience

The little boy is the first ever Scout to wear the uniform and is very excited about being a Scout. He was there to remind them of what they are doing and that he is the most important thing of Scouting

The log with an axe in it is the symbol of Woodbadge

The 1st part of Woodbagde is complete!
They were all given these walking sticks with their name engraved and the stick is helping Beau along his way and is to remind him of the Scouts and what he is doing this for.

Beau would never give up the chance he had to go to Woodbadge training. He learned so much and met some amazing people there. Beau is really excited about being a Scout Master especially after his week long training. Even more, he's excited to accomplish his "tickets" (tickets meaning goals) they have 18 months to accomplish there 5 tickets that they set during the 1st part of Woodbadge and the 2nd part is to obtain those goals. I'm so proud of Beau for wanting to become a better Scout Master and most of all bettering himself!
I love you BEAU!!

The next time you see Beau, ask him about his experience and he may never quit talking about it :)

Wednesday night I had Beau take me on a date up to the East bench of Salt Lake City to this great little book shop called The King's English where I got to meet one of my favorite blog writers and now cookbook author!

We stood in line for the tickets to actually get her to sign the book about hour and half. And Boy! am I glad we got there when we did. The line wasn't too bad but it seemed right after we got there so did every one else!

About 6:30 they had us all pile into this gorgeous Gallery that was next the the book shop where she spoke and answered questions. There was way more people than this bookstore ever thought there would be and so we were everywhere in that gallery. Some on chairs, a stair case, the floor, and standing in the back, where we ended up!

She was great!! She talked a little about her life and how she started with just a blog to show her Mom her kids and then she started writing about living on a ranch and the craziness of it all. She has a great fun wit to her stories! I love reading about her daily life. Then she start posting some recipes with step by step photos. Random people starting leaving how much they loved her recipes, stories and photography and 3 years later here she is... greatly successful and a new cookbook!

There was 20 people to each letter! They ran out of letters before we went into the Gallery!!

She told Beau that we was a good man to come with me! Beau was flattered and he told her "Sure! Anything for my Wife!" :)
He was really great for going with me. There was probably 20 other men there! Beau says that he was behind in his time to start a blog. We was really inspired by her and how she had a money making site. That's Beau dream. To live in the country, work from home, have a big money making website! One day... maybe one day!!

(I gave a copy to my Sister for her birthday, she loved it!)

It was truly inspiring to meet someone that I've been admiring for about 2 years now and to actually see her success and to have the chance to go to her book signing and hear her speak of her life and successes. I'm so glad I went. I'm more excited to have my new cookbook! She has all her recipes on her site and they are very delicious and pretty dang simple!! Check her out!
